Holidays

Now as you all know, it is the June holiday now. After the gruelling school term, we are finally able to take a rest, relax and enjoy ourselves.

However, I feel that there should be a change in the holidays. In my opinion, we should have holidays planned out as follow. Every week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday there will be school. Wednesday and the weekend there will be rest and no school. There will be no school holidays for March and September, but there will be a two week school holiday during June and a month of holiday during December. If the holidays are planned out like this, we will have a rest on Wednesday and need not go through school in one shot for five days. With this, I think that we can excel more in school as we have adequate rest on Wednesdays. Moreover, with no more March and September holidays and the holidays of June and December shorten, it will not allow us to forget the things that we learnt in school during the holidays. For example, after one whole month of June holidays of playing, we might forget what we have learnt in school before the June holidays and it will be hard and a waste of time for us to refresh our mind and pick up the skills again.
This plan will enable the students to have sufficient rest so that they can concentrate on their lesson in class. It also allow the students to have one extra day to catch up with the homework and lesson that they have fallen behind in. They can also use the extra day to revise for their coming examinations so that they will not need to study extra hard, having already revised their work. This extra time will allow the students to focus more on their weaker subjects. They can enrich themselves by reading books or engaging in research, things that are seldom or unable to do in school.

With this new plan, a lot of the school system will need to be revised like the school term, the examinations etc and it will be a big trouble to do so but it will be worth while with the results that follow after adapting to this new plan. Although many things are needed to be considered, I do hope that we will adapt to this plan and hopefully it will work better than the current one.

Thank you. I have come to an end and I would like to hear what you readers have to say. Do you think this plan is even possible? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Please comment:)

I agree with you. However I think that a holiday on wednesday is not very effective in order for us to have sufficient rest. As you know, in secondary school, the homework load has increased by at least 2 times and if each subject teacher gives us 2 homework, can you imagine the homework load that we have? Thus I feel that we should have an extra holiday on monday, but I think that having an extra day of rest is not so effective. If you should ask me, I would think that having longer school hours would be more effective. This plan can allow for us to do our homework in school can think about it, wouldn't it be more effective for us to remember what we have learnt in school and when we get back home, it would be free and easy time for us as we can communicate with our parents more and for gamers like me, I could have more time to play on the computer. I am also not saying that your plan is no good, but if you cut short the holidays during the june and december holidays and no holidays during the march and september hoidays, it would be no good. Think about it, what are holidays for? Isn't it for us to relax after a tiring and gruelling term and relax and go on a holidays with our parents. Thus, I think that your plan which has to sacrifice the holidays for the tennagers is not very effective. Any comments? Thank you very much

I feel that moderate rest is better. If we have an extra holiday every week, we will have our workload even out, rather than having a long rest after a tiring and gruelling term.
By having longer school hours, we will have to wake up even earlier and having to shorten our CCA training hours. School is mainly for us to learn things, for the teachers in school to teach us the new things we have to learn and not wasting time for our homework. Teachers dont get paid by asking us to do homework. Their job is to teach.
Furthermore, if you like to play game and relax then dont go to school. As you have said the workload has increased by 2 times in secondary school so dont think that you can still play and enjoy like you do in primary school. You have to make use of all the time you have and not waste them.
I'm not saying that you cannot play and enjoy. It is just that you dont get to play and enjoy that much during secondary.
I'm not sacrificing the holidays for the teenagers. I'm just rearranging them to fit the holidays to be every week rather than a whole long month.
This is my comment.
